Spartans target second win

Hamrun Spartans could be the only team with maximum points from two matches should they beat Tarxien Rainbows this afternoon in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme.

After a fine 3-1 win over Qormi, the Spartans are eager to collect another three points against a team which disappointed in their first outing. In fact, the Rainbows failed to impress in a goalless draw with Marsaxlokk last week.

New Serbian defender Jovan Vukanic is still unavailable for Hamrun while Daniel Mariano Bueno is yet to obtain the international clearance in order to play for the Rainbows.

Meanwhile in the second match, Marsaxlokk and Sliema Wanderers will both aim at obtaining their first win after failing to win last weekend.

The Southseasiders were held in a draw by Tarxien while Sliema suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat to champions Birkirkara.

John Mintoff is ruled out for the Wanderers after being handed a one-match ban. Alex Muscat, Roderick Bajada, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and new recruit Steve Bezzina are still unavailable for the Blues.
