Lija Athletic joined Mqabba in second place in the BOV First Division thanks to a narrow 1-0 win in a direct clash. Lija and Mqabba now lie on the nine-point mark, one behind leaders St. George’s who however have a game in hand.
Admin Dzanovic scored the all-important goal on 72 minutes.
St. George’s will be in action on Wednesday as they take on Mosta.
Meanwhile Dingli Swallows were the last team to reach the semi-finals of the Maltco Lotteries First Division Knock-Out as they defeated Pietà Hotspurs 1-0 in the last match from the group phase.
Jareilly Chirino scored the all-important goal on 11 minutes.
Dingli finished second in Group 2 behind winners Mqabba. In the semi-finals which will be played in May, Dingli face Group 1 winners Lija Athletic while Mqabba take on Balzan Youths.
