The Malta Under-21 side and the Catania primavera side shared the spoils in a goalless draw in a friendly match at the Stadio Comunale in Pedara on Wednesday.
This game marked the return of Ray Farrugia as coach of the Under-21 side – the team he led for four years between 1998 and 2002.
The Under-21 squad included a number of relatively new faces as the team prepares for the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers starting with the away games against Finland and Lithuania in June.
Substitute Jean Paul Farrugia was sent off six minutes from time.
