St. Venera Lightnings secured promotion to Division 2 after beating Mdina Knights 2-0 in a match from Section A of the BOV Third Division on Thursday.

Goals by Mark Grech and Stefan Farrugia enabled the Lightnings to move three points clear of Siggiewi who however have a game in hand.

In another match, Swieqi United beat Xghajra Tornados 8-0.
