The 12th of July 2011 will go down in the history books of Floriana FC when on this day a collaboration agreement was signed between the club and Italian football giants SS Lazio.
This agreement was signed by President Johann Said for Floriana and by Generale Giulio Colletta, President of the Lazio Settore Giovanile.
As a result of this agreement, Floriana FC will be benefitting from various initiatives as well as the experience of SS Lazio. These initiatives include periodical visits by the SS Lazio technical staff with a number of seminar and training camps to be arranged. There will also be the opportunity of a number of player exchanges as well as for Floriana FC to take up teams for training camps in Rome.
Dr. Hugh Peralta, Chairman of the Nursery in a short speech thanked the SS Lazio delegation for this initiative and hoped that with this agreement promising players from Floriana FC will have more opportunities of furthering their careers abroad.
Generale Colletta said that the agreement signed with Floriana FC is the first one of its sort with a team outside Italy. He thanked Floriana FC for choosing Lazio and described it as an honour to be associated with one of the most important clubs in Malta. He said that he hoped that this agreement will only be the beginning of greater collaboration and wished success to the club for the future.
