The investment in infrastructure made by Hamrun Spartans FC during the past 15 years is finally bearing fruit as the nursery daily receives requests from top young football players to join its ranks.
Whereas rumours are widespread that some players are enticed to register with some other nurseries with promises of material gifts, the only promise given by the Hamrun Nursery is that it will do its best to provide all its young players with the best coaching and the best training facilities in order to ensure that they eventually make the grade. Addressing a press conference, Nursery secretary Noel Debattista said that this is the main aim of his organisation.
During the press conference, the Hamrun Nursery unveiled details of its plans for the new 2011-2012 season, which will commence in mid September 2011 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. The date will coincide with the inauguration of the modernised stand at the ground and parents will have the opportunity to take a look at the structural works carried out.
The well-attended press conference also served as a presentation event of the new kit sponsors and of the new Adidas kit itself. The main kit sponsors – Cochlear – gave details of the services they provide during the meeting. Cochlear is the global leader in the connecting people with serious hearing losses to the fantastic world of sound. The major products provided by this Company, the Cochlear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA), are an anwavering commitment to offering life-enhancing hearing solutions for customers. Other kit sponsors are Baha, MET, Gatorade and Eurosport. The nursery is proud to be associated with such renowned brands.
Nursery officials and head coaches proceeded to provide details of the new coaching set-up of the nursery and of training schedules for each category. Dates and times of training sessions for different age categories will shortly be uploaded on the Hamrun nursery website www.hamrunnursery.com.
Applications for the registration of boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 years to join the Hamrun Nursery are now open. Nursery officials will be at the Tony Bajada Centre in Alexander Street (next to the five-a-side pitch) every day between 6.30pm and 8.00pm. A registration form available at the nursery premises needs to be filled in. All kids are also being encouraged to undergo a basic medical assessment and a related form is also available at the nursery premises. Children registering for the first time with the nursery are required to bring four passport-sized photos and an original government birth certificate. All children have to be accompanied by at least one of the parents presenting an ID card.
The Hamrun Spartans Youth Nursery offers competitive fees for season registrations. Special rates apply for the registration of brothers/sisters and for the girls team. The secretary also announced the first social activity to be held on the 27th August at Comino. This will be a good occasion for the young players to socialise with their friends.
