Seminar for Elite match officials and Category One referees

The Malta Football Association Referees’ Committee is organizing a three-day Seminar for Elite Match Officials and Category One Referees.

This seminar is being held between Monday 29 and Wednesday 31 August 2011, at the Le Méridien St. Julians Hotel and Spa.

After the Official Opening, the first two sessions were conducted by Messrs Alan Snoddy (UEFA Referees’ Instructor) and Detelin Baialtzaliev (Senior Lecturer, Bulgarian FA).

The programme includes various topics to be addressed by Messrs Adrian D. Casha (Director of Refereeing), Charles Agius (Chairman, Referees’ Committee), Tom A. Restall and Victor Mintoff (Malta FA Referees’ Instructors) and Stephen Azzopardi (UEFA Professional Licence Football Coach). Ms Adele Muscat (Sports Psychologist) and Ms Marika Micallef (Fitness and Health Care Specialist) will also address the referees.

During the seminar, the referees will be involved in Group Work sessions after which they will have to discuss presentations; they will also have to undergo the FIFA Fitness Test under the guidance of Ronald Zammit (Malta FA Referees’ Fitness Coach).

For this seminar, young promising referees who form part of the Talent and Mentor Programme (which has just been established to identify same and help them in their career by special programmes) have been invited to attend.

Mr Norman Darmanin Demajo, Malta FA President, will deliver the Closing Address.
