Eight Premier League players suspended — Three year ban for Loquete

Eight Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League.

Floriana’s Christian Caruana was suspended for three matches while Balzan Youths captain Jonathan Francica was banned for two matches. Nikola Tasic (Balzan), Harun Shola Shodiya (Birkirkara), Steve Bonnici (Hamrun), Aaron Xuereb and Mario Muscat (Hibs) and Julian Briffa (Mqabba) were handed a one-match ban.

Balzan team-manager Ivan Zammit was suspended for two matches.

Christian Caruana will be missing Floriana’s games against Valletta, Sliema and Birkirkara. Francica is ruled out of the games against Hibernians and Birkirkara. Nikola Tasic, Mario Muscat and Aaron Xuereb will also miss the game Balzan vs Hibs. Shodiya is ruled out of the game against Sliema while Bonnici and Briffa will miss the Relegation Pool matches against Tarxien and Qormi respectively.

In Division 1, Gustavo Ribeiro (St. Andrews) was banned for three matches while Mead Mifsud (Birzebbuga), Faisal Alnakua (St. Andrews), Alan Abela and Dylan Zarb (St. George’s), Larry Lagana (Vittoriosa) and Matthew Borg (Zejtun) were suspended for one match.

Mellieha striker Tiago Loquete was banned for three years – until March 2015 – while Kurt Zahra, Daniel Gauci and Rosen Filipov (Attard), Ryan Mifsud (Gharghur), Albert Busuttil (Kirkop), Karl Cilia (St. Venera) and Roderick Spiteri (Zebbug) were suspended for one game in Division 2. Sinclair Camilleri (Kalkara) was banned for one match in Division 3.

In the Youth League, Edward Azzopardi (Attard), Jonathan Mallia (Msida), Christian Grech (Pietà), Dylan Galea (San Gwann), Randall Vella and James Lagana (St. Patrick) and Clive Pisani (Santa Lucia) were handed for one match.
