Euro Cup: Hibernians take on Birkirkara

UBET FA Trophy winners Hibernians hope to continue where they had left by beating Birkirkara in the second match from the Euro Cup on Thursday at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 18:30.

The Paolites ended last season on a positive note as they defeated champions Valletta in the last league game and then won the FA Trophy after defeating Hamrun Spartans in the semi-final and Qormi in the final.

Under the guidance of new coach Michael Woods, Hibs hope to start the season with a win ahead of next Monday’s clash with Valletta. Woodsd is not expected to have the full squad at his disposal as Edison Luis dos Santos, Marcelo Dias and Jackson Lima have not yet resumed training while Steve Pisani is currently on trial in Slovakia.

Birkirkara have confirmed Paul Zammit as their coach. Since last season, the only player who is no longer with the club is Spanish striker Moises Avila Perez. Gareth Sciberras is ruled out through suspension.
