Luke Dimech returns with Valletta

Luke Dimech returns with Valletta after the Citizens concluded negotiations with the Malta international defender to join them from Mosta until the end of the season.

This will Dimech’s second spell with the Citizens after playing for them during seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10. However an incident towards the end of the second season led to his suspension and eventually moved to AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.

After starting his career with Lincoln City in England, Luke Dimech moved to Malta to join Sliema Wanderers in summer 1995. He then moved to Ireland to join Shamrock Rovers but in February 2003, he signed for Birkirkara until the end of the season. He then returned to England to play for Mansfield Town and Chester City.

In summer 2006, he joined Marsaxlokk but after just one year, he moved back to the UK, joning Macclesfield, spending just one year and returning to Malta to join Valletta. He played for two years for Valletta and in summer 2010, he joined former Valletta coach Ton Caanen at AEK Larnaca with whom he played in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.

Luke Dimech returned to Malta this summer, joining Mosta.
