BOV presents Gozo Player of the Month awards

Nadur Youngsters defender Saviour Attard, Kercem Ajax defender Sabri Rais, Xewkija Tigers midfielder Elton Vella and Nadur Youngsters striker Claudio Antunes won the BOV Player of the Month Awards in Gozo for October, November, December and January respectively.

This award has not been presented in Gozo since the 2001/02 season.

Saviour Attard won the BOV Player of the Month award for October. His consistent positive performances during these first weeks of this football season have helped Nadur Youngsters FC to win the first honour when they acquired the 32nd edition of the Independence Cup.

Jack Thewma, Manager at Bank of Valletta’s Gozo branch, presented the BOV Player of the Month Trophy for October 2012 to Mr Attard who chose Arka Foundation as the beneficiary of the donation related to this award.

Saviour Attard  Sabri Rais

The BOV Player of the Month award was a deserved reward for 43-year-old Sabri Rais who has been one of Kercem Ajax’s top performers so far this season, as they remained undefeated at the end of the first round. His goal-scoring instinct was evident when he scored against Victoria Hotspurs.

Undoubtedly, Elton Vella’s top performance during December helped the reigning champions Xewkija Tigers to move closer to the top position and re-opened their chance to defend their title.

Elton Vella  Claudio Antunes

Brazilian striker Claudio Antunes was instrumental in helping Nadur Youngsters stay at the top of the Melita First Division League. Antunes was one of the top performers in the four games played by club in January, scoring two goals against Victoria Hotspurs to give Nadur Youngsters a 4-3 win and again against Xewkija Tigers for a 3-2 result. He also scored one goal against SK Victoria Wanderers 2-0 and Xaghra United 4-0.

Jack Thewma, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Gozo Branch, presented the awards to Sabri Rais and Claudio Antunes while Charles Grech Soler, Manager Republic Street, presented the award to Elton Vella. These three players chose Puttinu Cares Gozo Committee to benefit from the donations related to this award.
