Naxxar Lions returned on top the BOV First Division as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 5-1.

Anderson Mendes Ribeiro put Naxxar ahead on the 7th minute and just before half-time, Angus Buhagiar doubled the score. Daren Falzon and Gilbert Camilleri added another two goals on 51 and 54 minutes to increase the lead further. Omar El Ghaouti pulled one back for Zejtun on 72 minutes but a minute later, Angus Buhagiar made it 5-1 for the Lions.

In another match, Lija Athletic came back from one goal down to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 3-1.

Vinicius Pereira dos Santos put the Saints ahead on 45 minutes but a brace by Ige Abdullahi Adeshina on 60 and 76 minutes and a goal by Ricardo Severino Goncalves on the 90th handed Lija the three points.

Naxxar lead the way with 31 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 30, Lija 29, Pieta 27, Marsaxlokk 26, Gudja 25, St. Andrews 24, Zejtun 17, Gzira 15, Dingli and Birzebbuga 9 and Mqabba 5.
