Leaders Mosta collected another three points in the BOV Women’s First Division as they defeated Gozo 3-1 at the Sannat Ground on Sunday.
Dorianne Theuma put the Blues ahead after concluding a solo effort with a shot from outside the area which beat the Gozitan goalkeeper. Emma Xuereb levelled matters for Gozo on the 35th. However five minutes in the second half, Mosta restored the lead through a Jade Flask header off a corner by Dorianne Theuma. Six minutes from time, substitute Rachel Nolan sealed the issue as she managed to connect off a cross by Nicole Buttigieg.

Champions Birkirkara struggled much more than expected to beat Mgarr United 2-1 at the Pembroke Ground.
The Stripes could have taken the lead on the 11th minute but a penalty by Raina Giusti was neutralised by Mgarr goalkeeper Ruth Debono. However two minutes later, Birkirkara were awarded another penalty. This time, Kim Parnis made no mistake to put them ahead.
Mgarr levelled matters on the 27th when it was the turn of Mgarr to be awarded a penalty. Antoinette Sammut converted. But three minutes later, Maryrose Cardona handed Birkirkara the three points as she restored the lead.

Hibernians had no mercy of neighbours Tarxien Rainbows, defeating them 16-0 at the Luxol Stadium. This was a surprise result considering recent improvement shown by the Rainbows.
The Paolites scored no less than nine goals during the first half – five thanks to Ylenia Carabott, three by Corissa Vella White and another by Rebecca Vella. Carabott added another two after the break, Eleonora Agliano and Nicole Borg scored two goals each and Charlene Zammit added another.
Tarxien were unlucky to lose goalkeeper Dorienne Grech injured mid-way through the second half.

Pembroke Athleta registered a fine 7-2 win over Hamrun Spartans at the Mgarr Ground.
Hamrun Spartans ironically took the lead on the 24th minute through Kimberly Micallef – the Spartans’ first goal this season. However their joy was short-lived as a few seconds later, Sonia Schembri equalised. One minute from half-time, Amber Grech made it 2-1 for Pembroke.
Goals by Nicole Vermeulen and Sarah Caruana increased the lead and although Amanda Atkins reduced the gap, Pembroke scored again through Amber Grech, Janelle Galea and Martina Borg.
