Diego Pinheiro de Sousa notched a hat-trick for Floriana as the Greens defeated newly-promoted Vittoriosa Stars 5-1 in a match from Group B of the AME Cup.
Gary Roberts put Floriana ahead on 16 minutes and three minutes later, Diego Pinherio de Sousa doubled the score. Roberts scored again on 33 minutes and one minute from half-time, Diego Pinherio de Sousa made it 4-0.
Diego Pinheiro de Sousa scored a fifth goal eight minutes in the second half. Adam Spiteri scored a consolation goal twelve minutes from time.

In another match, Qormi defeated Rabat Ajax 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
Leighton Grech put Qormi ahead on 59 minutes but Sidi Fuco Hamada levelled matters for Rabat six minutes from time.
In the penalty shoot-out, Qormi scored the five penalties thanks to Simone Bezzicceri, Jonathan Bondin, Martin Kotzya, Pavel Besta and Leighton Grech with goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia neutralising Hamada’s penalty. Dani Pelaez, Justin Felice, Diego Carrillo and Ryan Micallef scored Rabat’s penalties.
On Friday, Floriana take on Rabat Ajax while Qormi face Vittoriosa Stars.
Meanwhile in Group A, Naxxar Lions take on Mosta while Tarxien Rainbows face Balzan on Wednesday.
