The Leader of the Opposition Dr. Simon Busuttil met the new administration of the Malta Football Association on Tuesday.
MFA President Norman Darmanin Demajo and Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Vassallo, accompanied by Vice-Presidents Dr. Chris Bonett, Ludovico Micallef and Alex Manfre’, General Secretary Joe Gauci and Treasurer Ivan Mizzi, welcomed Dr Busuttil.
The two parties discussed the need to revise the laws with regards to the commercialisation of the land which was leased by the government to member clubs as this would guarantee the financial sustainability of clubs.

The changes necessary to change clubs into commercial entities in order to attract both local and foreign investment was also discussed.
Other points which were mentioned were the possibility of establishing a new tax rate for those employed in the football sector while the fiscal position of those who have some sort of income from football is regularised.
The Leader of the Opposition agreed with these proposals and promised support on these initiatives in Parliament.
The association promised to invest money in order to make the National Stadium more accessible for people with special needs.
