After signing Brazilian striker Ronaille Calheira Seará and Serbian defender Marko Potezica, Tarxien Rainbows confirmed the signing of another five new players.
They secured the services of three players on loan from Sliema Wanderers, namely Luca Martinelli, Josef Mifsud and Miguel Ciantar and signed Brazilians Fernando Lopes Alcantara and Everton Souza Santos.
Martinelli, Ciantar and Mifsud are three Sliema products with the former two both spending some time on loan with other clubs in recent years. Martinelli was on loan at Melita and Mosta before returning with the Blues while Ciantar spent time on loan with Msida St. Joseph and Balzan. Josef Mifsud started his career with the Wanderers but moved to Valletta although he returned back to his first love in 2010.
Apart from playing in his home-country, twenty-six year old defender Fernando Lopes played in Hong Kong and Macedonia. On the other hand, Everton Souza is a twenty-nine year old striker.
Twenty-nine year old Ronaille Calheira played in Peru, Bolivia and China apart from Brazil. Marko Potezica will return to the game after serving a one-year ban. In Malta, he had played for Lija Athletic and Mqabba.
Since last season, Brazilians Andrezinho and Leandro Guerreiro were not retained while Daniel Mariano Bueno is expected to move elsewhere. Other players who are no longer on the books of Tarxien include goalkeeper David Cassar and Orosco Anonam who joined Pietà Hotspurs in Division 1 and Roderick Bajada who moved to Qormi.
