This match is very important, as both teams struggle to avoid relegation. Marco Borg shall be assisted by FIFA Assistant Referee Ingmar Spiteri and Elite Assistant Referee Sammy Attard.

In a media statement, Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha stated “the referees’ exchange programme has entered the third season and has given all our elite match officials the opportunity to officiate in other countries’ highest league and gain valuable experience. This programme is funded by the UEFA Convention on Referee Education and Organisation. Malta has been amongst the first countries to initiate such exchanges with non neighbouring countries. For our local clubs, this exchange programme is also beneficial and we are giving all Premier League clubs the opportunity to have matches controlled by foreign referees.”

Meanwhile the referees’ exchange programme shall enable this Sunday’s top Premier League clash at the National Stadium between Birkirkara and Hibernians to be officiated by experienced Elite Welsh referee Huw Jones. He shall be assisted by Elite Assistant Referees Michael Gray and Martin Roberts, while Elite Referee Andy Harms shall act as 4th Official.

Andy Harms shall be the referee of the Rabat Ajax vs Floriana match on Saturday at the National Stadium, while Martin Roberts, Michael Gray and Huw Jones shall be the other members of the refereeing team.
