Balzan Futsal Club have started the season on a top note after winning the FXDD Super Cup to retain the honour after last year’s success. Their victims were Hibernians, fresh from their positive adventure in the UEFA Futsal Cup. Balzan dominated for most of the time and the 5-1 score line confirms their superiority throughout the match.
The game was played in front of a large number of spectators with both set of supporters creating a beautiful atmosphere at the Corradino Sports Pavilion.
Balzan presented an almost completely new formation with Romanian international and former Tarxien player Gabriel Dobre as their player coach supported by another former Tarxien player Emil Raducu, former Lija player Jovica Milijic and Catalunyan international Marc Albert. Hibernians, on the other hand, were strengthened with former Floriana players Kurt Bartolo and Daniel Brincat.
Emil Raducu, Nicola Del Re, Jovica Milijic, Glenn Bonello and Marc Albert scored for Balzan while Xavier Saliba scored a consolation goal for the Paolites.
After the match, captain Carlos Scicluna was presented with the FXDD Super Cup amidst the joy and triumph of the Balzan clan.
