Nadur hit eleven past Xaghra

Gozo-Football-AssociationNadur Youngsters registered an incredible 11-1 win over Xaghra United to maintain a four-point lead over Xewkija Tigers and SK Victoria Wanderers in the Melita First Division in Gozo.

The Youngsters enjoyed a 4-1 lead by the end of the first half. An own goal by Mark Buhagiar put them ahead on the 3rd minute, Alex Simoncic doubled the score on the 17th with Chidi Achokwu reducing the gap on 23 minutes. However Nadur increased the lead thanks to two own goals by Mark Buhagiar on the 39th and Joseph Bartolo just before half-time.

In the second half, Nadur added another seven goals thanks to Saviour Attard (49′), Anthony Portelli (55′), Joseph Portelli (57′), Brandon Said (75′), Adrian Pulis (78′), a Milos Stojanovic penalty (85′) and another goal by Joseph Portelli (89′).

SK Victoria Wanderers defeated neighbours Oratory Youths 2-1. Shaun Attard put Oratory Youths ahead on 19 minutes, Ejofor Nkwocha levelled matters three minutes later and Peter Anizoba notched the winner on 76 minutes.

Xewkija Tigers beat Victoria Hotspurs 4-1. Warren Chircop gave the Hotspurs the lead on the 8th minute but an own goal by Alex Tramboo restored equilibrium. Kenneth Mercieca put Xewkija ahead just before half-time and to make matters worse for the Hotspurs, goalkeeper Courtney Mercieca was sent off. Jason Portelli converted a penalty on the 55th and Christian Bugeja sealed the issue with a fourth goal one minute from time.

In another match, Kercem Ajax beat Munxar Falcons 1-0 thanks to a goal by Joseph Chetcuti on 69 minutes.

In the Melita Second Division on Friday, leaders Ghajnsielem defeated Sannat Lions 4-1. Charlon Tabone notched a hat-trick with Kenny Hili adding another. Fernando de Andrade scored a consolation goal for the Lions.

Gharb Rangers and Zebbug Rovers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Sylvan Galea put the Rovers ahead and Daniel Portelli levelled matters early in the second half.
