New initiatives by Balzan Nursery

balzan-fc-nurseryFormer AC Milan player Andrea Icardi, who spent over ten years as a player at AC Milan and other clubs in Serie A and who is now UEFA Pro Licensed coach and the Coaching Director of the Milan Soccer School Sydney, will be visiting Balzan FC Nursery once again early in May. During his visit, trials will be held for boys of various ages in a repeat of the very successful sessions held two years ago. Two boys selected from these trials will be sent to Italy for further evaluation.

Balzan are also pleased to announce that they have entered into an agreement with their Italian player Fabio Vignaroli to be involved with coaching boys at the Balzan Nursery to develop various football techniques.

The veteran player who spent over 15 years as a professional player in Italy as a player at clubs such as Bologna, Lazio and Parma is also currently in the final stages of completing a major football centre in Liguria in northern Italy. Selected players from various clubs, including those from Malta, will be invited there to train and learn various technical skills under Fabio’s guidance in the off season. Several leading Serie A clubs have expressed a strong interest in being part of the project, and these discussions are at an advanced stage.

Balzan Honorary President Anton Tagliaferro said “We are extremely fortunate to have both Andrea and Fabio agreeing to work with young Maltese players through the club at Balzan. Both are exceptionally experienced professionals and in their time in Italy they were both champion players. Both know what it takes for young players to develop to become much better players and how to develop a career in football and I am sure that any young Maltese player who attends their session will benefit greatly from them.”

Further information regarding the trials session in May will be out soon.

In the meantime all those needing further information can contact the Balzan FC Nursery Director of Youth Coaching, Silvan Ciscaldi who will be co ordinating the sessions by email on sciscaldi@gmail.com.
