Xewkija Tigers keep marching on

Gozo-Football-AssociationXewkija Tigers moved five points clear before the clash between Nadur Youngsters and SK Victoria Wanderers next week as they defeated Victoria Hotspurs 3-0 in the first match from the Championship Pool in the Melita First Division in Gozo.

Gilbert Agius put Xewkija ahead on 21 minutes, Jason Portelli doubled the score on the 58th and John Camilleri sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes from time.

Meanwhile in the first match from the Relegation Pool, Oratory Youths were held in a goalless draw by Xaghra United.

In the Melita Second Division, St. Lawrence Spurs maintained the lead at the top after sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Damon Hili and Charlon Tabone gave the blacks a two-goal lead in the first half but St. Lawrence bit back with goals by Jason Tabone and and Mambaye Boye to earn a point from the game despite having a player sent off.

In another match, a goal by Michael Matthias gave Gharb Rangers a narrow win over Qala Saints.
