SK Victoria Wanderers win derby

Gozo-Football-AssociationSK Victoria Wanderers returned to winning ways as they defeated Victoria Hotspurs 4-0 in the derby from the Melita First Division in Gozo on Thursday. A win which puts the Wanderers two points behind leaders Xewkija Tigers and two ahead of Nadur Youngsters.

Shaun Attard put SK ahead on the 12th minute and Daniel Bogdanovic doubled the score three minutes later. Peter Anizoba made it 3-0 eight minutes from the end of the first half and Joseph Vella sealed the issue with a fourth goal on 57 minutes.

In a match from the Relegation Pool, Kercem Ajax beat Xaghra United 4-2.

Owen Spiteri gave Kercem an early lead – after just two minutes. Malcolm Vella doubled the score on the 14th and Sabri Rais made it 3-0 seven minutes later. On the half-hour, Chidi Achokwu pulled one back for Xaghra ad Daniel Bartolo scored a second goal on 51 minutes. However Malcolm Vella scored again for the Ajax to secure the three points on 84 minutes.

Meanwhile in the Melita Second Division, leaders St. Lawrence Spurs moved seen points clear as they beat Zebbug Rovers 2-1 with Ghajnsielem losing 1-2 to Gharb Rangers.

Goals by Mambaye Boye and Jonanath Micallef gave the Spurs the three points despite the fact that Pedro Adame Calderon had restored the temporary equilibrium for Zebbug.

On the other hand, a brace by Michael Mathias Uzor gave Gharb the three points with Matthew Portelli scoring a consolation goal for the Blacks late in the game.
