Seventeen Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.
Kurt Magro (Balzan), Ryan Scicluna (Birkirkara), Sacha Borg (Floriana), Bjorn Kristensen (Hibs), Gianmarco Piccioni, Tyrone Farrugia and Ryan Grech (Mosta), Thiago Lopes de Souza and Angus Buhagiar (Naxxar), Jonathan Bondin (Qormi), Jonathan Bajada (Rabat), Alex Muscat and Admir Vladavic (Sliema), Manuel Caruana (Tarxien), Federico Santaguida, Jose Filipe Caldeira Aguiar and Ousmane Sidibe (Vittoriosa) were all suspended for one match. Naxxar Lions president Dione Drago was banned for two matches.
Ryan Scicluna is therefore ruled out of this weekend’s big match against Valletta. Mosta will be without Piccioni, Farrugia and Grech for the game against Balzan with the latter lacking Kurt Magro while Kristensen, Muscat and Vladavic are ruled out of Sliema vs Hibs.
In the Relegation Pool, Naxxar’s Thiago Lopes and Angus Buhagiar and Vittoriosa’s Santaguida, Aguiar and Sidibe are ruled out of the direct clash between the two teams on Saturday. Jonathan Bajada and Sacha Borg will miss the clash between Rabat and Floriana while Jonathan Bondin and Manuel Caruana will miss Tarxien vs Qormi.
Meanwhile Martin Kotyza (Gzira) and Justin Spiteri (Zebbug) were suspended for one match in Division 1.
In Division 2, Neil Caruana (Gharghur), Heathcliff Schembri (Marsaskala), Neil Gatt Coleiro and Didier Tayou (Mqabba) were handed a one-match ban while Neil Curmi (Marsa) and Rodney Caruana (Pembroke) were banned for two matches.
In Division 3, Christopher Ciappara (Attard) was banned for 5 matches, Jacob Camilleri (Kalkara) was suspended for three matches while Julian Fenech and Ryan Theuma (Sirens) were banned for two matches. Clifton Piscopo and Darren Cristina (Kalkara), Stefan Cutajar (Marsaxlokk), Keane Cutajar (Mgarr), Alfred Micallef (Sta. Venera), Andrew Darmanin (Ta’ Xbiex), Gabriel Buttigieg (Xghajra) were banned for one match. Mtarfa kit-manager Carmel Sammut was handed a two-match ban.
