UEFA Champions League, Europa League to be held on Monday

UEFA_logo_2012The draws for the UEFA Champions League first and second qualifying rounds and the UEFA Europa League first and second qualifying round will be held on Monday in Nyon. The UEFA Champions League draws will be held at 12:00 while the UEFA Europa League first and second qualifying draws will be held at 13:00 and 14:30 respectively.

Malta will be represented by champions Valletta in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League and by runners-up Birkirkara, third-placed Hibernians and FA Trophy finalists Sliema Wanderers in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

In the UEFA Champions League, six teams are involved in the first qualifying round. The three winners join the thirty-one teams which enter directly into the second qualifying round, including Valletta. These were pre-separated into three groups from which their respective opponents will be drawn.

Valletta were placed in Group 3. The seeded teams and hence possible opponents for the Citizens are:

In the UEFA Europa League, the seventy-eight teams in the first qualifying round have been split into seven groups each containing equal numbers of seeded and unseeded teams according to their coefficients.

Unseeded Hibernians were placed in Group 1 and therefore their possible opponents are:

Birkirkara are seeded in Group 2 and will therefore be paired with one of the unseeded sides in the group, namely:
