Romanian, Bulgarian and Irish opponents for Hibernians in UEFA Women's Champions League

women-champions-leagueBOV Women’s First Division League champions Hibernians were drawn with CFF Olimpia Cluj of Romania, FC NSA Sofia of Bulgaria and Raheny United FC of Ireland in Group 2 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round. The mini-tournament will be played between August 9 and 14 in Romania.

This will be the Paolites’ first participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League as in previous occasions, they opted not to take part. Malta was represented by Birkirkara in 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013 and by Mosta in 2011.

Olimpia Cluj were drawn with Birkirkara in 2012, defeating them 8-0.

Hibernians won the championship after defeating Birkirkara on penalties in a decider. Earlier in the season, they won the Super Cup after defeating Birkirkara 2-1 after extra-time.
