As the Annual General Meeting of the Malta Football Association will be held on Tuesday 22nd July, there will be no need for an election for the Ordinary Members of the Executive Committee for season 2014/15 to represent Premier Division, First Division, Second Division and Third Division clubs, Member Associations, the Gozo Football Association and the Youth Football Association as the nominations submitted by the respective Standing Committees or Associations are equal to the number of vacancies. The only election necessary will be to elect two members to represent member clubs in general.
However there will be a number of new faces in the Executive Committee as Premier League clubs and First Division clubs. Redeno Apap (Qormi) and Adrian Delia (Birkirkara) will be representing Premier League clubs while Dr Angelo Chetcuti (Birzebbuga St. Peter’s) and Paul Falzon (St. Andrews) will represent First Division clubs. Last season, Premier League clubs were represented by Chris Grech (Mosta) and Paul Spiteri (Valletta) while Tyrone Demanuele (Gzira) and Joe Sammut (Pietà) represented First Division clubs.
Grech, Spiteri and Sammut however have submitted the nomination to be elected to represent Member Clubs in general.
Manuel Gauci (Zabbar St. Patrick) will continue to represent Second Division clubs and joining him will be Victor Cassar (Hamrun Spartans) who was already serving on the Executive Committee.
Raymond Micallef (Attard) and Paul Sammut (Santa Lucia) will continue to represent Third Division clubs. Lawrence Aquilina (Malta Football Coaches Association) and Lino Bartolo District Football Leagues were also confirmed to represent Member Associations while Alvin Grech and Joe Micallef will continue to represent the Gozo Football Association and the Youth Football Association.
In all, seven nominations were submitted for the two vacancies for Executive Committee members to represent Member Clubs in general. These are Stephen Abela (Hibs), Michael Cutajar (St. George’s), Chris Grech (Mosta), Mauro Miceli (Swieqi), Joseph Sammut (Pietà:), Paul Spiteri (Valletta) and Johann Vella (Sta. Venera).
Therefore the ordinary members of the Executive Committee for season 2014/15 will be:
Premier League: Redeno Apap (Qormi) and Adrian Delia (Birkirkara);
First Division: Dr Angelo Chetcuti (Birzebbuga St. Peter’s) and Paul Falzon (St. Andrews);
Second Division: Manuel Gauci (Zabbar), Victor Cassar (Hamrun Spartans);
Third Division: Raymond Micallef (Attard), Paul Sammut (Santa Lucia);
Member Clubs in general: two members to be elected during AGM;
Member Associations: Lawrence Aquilina (MFCA), Lino Bartolo (District Football Leagues);
Gozo FA: Alvin Grech
Youth FA: Joe Micallef
This year, there will be no election for the officials of the Malta Football Association as this is held every three years.
