The Paola Hibs Nursery Under-13 side took part in the English International Super Cup which was held in Bolton, England in the last week of July. This tournament is held on an annual basis and attracts teams from all over the world.
This year’s edition was no exception. The tournament was held in the Eddie Davies Football grounds, home of the Bolton Academy. These grounds are just a short drive away from the Macron Stadium and boast of 6 full size grass pitches apart from other facilities.
The Paola contingent was led by Keith Darmanin, the category coach. It was a marvellous experience for the boys where they played against opposition from Kenya, Columbia, Norway and the UK.
The final matches saw Bolton Academy winning the category whilst Hibs were playing against Allset of Colombia. Two-nil down by half time against a strong opposition, the kids showed their resilience scoring three times in the second half. Thus Paola Hibs were crowned Challenge Cup champions. This match will be surely remembered for a long time by all those present in Bolton.
The Paola Hibernians Football Nursery is currently preparing for an exciting new season. All those who want to join the nursery can contact the head coach on 79061178 or come directly to the nursery premises.
