After collecting just one point from their first two outings, champions Valletta will be aiming for their first win as they take on eternal rivals Floriana in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
Birkirkara vs Naxxar Lions, kick-off 18:30 at National Stadium
Birkirkara target a third consecutive win in their bid to maintain their hundred percent record. The Stripes defeated Pietà Hotspurs 2-1 and Zebbug Rangers 4-0 with their new Brazilian players – Eliandro, Liliu and Rafael Ledesma all leaving a very good impression.
Naxxar, on the other hand, were held in a 1-1 draw by ten-man Balzan during the weekend after losing 0-1 to Qormi in their first outing. Coach Winston Muscat could not rely on Brazilian midfielder Sidney da Silva who is ruled out injured.
For the Stripes, Joseph Zerafa, Edmond Agius and Gareth Sciberras are still in doubt.
Floriana vs Valletta, kick-off 20:30 at National Stadium
One point from the first two outings – a defeat to Mosta and a draw with Tarxien – were definitely not what champions Valletta hoped for before the BOV Premier League campaign kicked-off. Therefore no result other than a win would satisfy the Citizens in this clash with their eternal rivals.
Floriana also collected just one point from their first two matches after losing 0-3 to Hibernians and holding Sliema in a 1-1 draw. Against the Citizens, the Greens will be aiming for another positive result which would act as a morale booster before the Premier League takes a break due to national team commitments.
