In its continued efforts to improve local refereeing standards, the Refereeing Department organised a one day seminar for its referee observers.
The seminar on Saturday 6th September was held at the Refereeing Department Conference Hall in Ta’ Qali and focused on achieving uniformity in the marking of match officials.
Development Officer Victor Mintoff highlighted the observer report guidelines and the marking scale, while emphasising on the importance of consistency in observing.
Director of Refereeing Adrian Casha conducted a Video Quiz on World Cup 2014 match situations and a Laws of the Game Trivia.
Assistant Referees’ Specialist Philip Agius presented ‘Law 11 – Offside’ with special reference to the interpretation of the new text.
Newly appointed Refereeing Operations Administrator Kevin Azzopardi reviewed administrative procedures.
Another seminar at the same venue was held on Friday 5th September for beginners, whereby Joseph Camilleri, Adrian Caruana, Paul Caruana, Ivaylo Popov and Anthony Zammit qualified as new referee observers.
