Sliema Wanderers registered their first win in the BOV Premier League as they beat Pietà Hotspurs 2-0 with a goal in each half.
For the Hotspurs, this was the fifth defeat in six matches, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the table with just one point.
With Alex Muscat still ruled out injured, Sliema had three changes from the team which lost to Valletta as Andrea Pisanu, Fabio Mangiacasale and Luca Martinelli replaced Beppe Muscat, Filippo Talato and Marko Potezica. Pietà coach Noel Coleiro handed a place in the starting line-up to Gabriel, Kyle Cesare and Orosco Anonam instead of Cleaven Cassar, Nikola Tasic and Terence Agius
The Wanderers managed to take the lead on 15 minutes when he claimed the ball just outside the area and advanced before slotting the ball past goalkeeper David Cassar.
On the 40th, Michael Mifsud could have doubled the score but his goal-bound shot, when served by Gnabouyou from the right, was cleared off the goal line by Christian Grech.
In the second half, the Hotspurs held the initiative for long stretches, going close to equalising six minutes from time with a Jurgen Pisani effort which was cleared off the goal line by Gatt Baldacchino.
In stoppage time, Fabio Mangiacasale went close to adding another goal for the Wanderers but his angled shot from the right was cleared off the goal line by Cain Attard.
However on the 92nd minute, Paltemio Barbetti sent Mark Scerri through and the latter rounded the goalkeeper and a defender to place the ball at the back of the net.
