Xewkija, Nadur keep marching on

Xewkija Tigers and Nadur Youngsters registered a fourth consecutive win in the Melita First Division in Gozo as they defeated Oratory Youths and Kercem Ajax respectively on Sunday.

A goal deep into added time enabled Nadur to defeat Kercem 2-1. Josef Buttigieg put Nadur ahead on the 38th minute but Anderson Ribeiro levelled matters just before half-time. Four minutes in added time, Joseph Vella notched the winner for Nadur.

Xewkija registered a comfortable 6-2 win over Oratory Youths. John Camilleri put the Tigers ahead after just seven minutes, Daniel Bogdanovic doubled the score on the 20th and two minutes later, John Camilleri made it 3-0. On the half-hour, Dene Shields converted a penalty and five minutes from half-time, Daniel Bogdanovic added another for a 5-0 score at half-time. On the hour, Dene Shields scored the sixth goal but Shaun Attard scored twice in the final six minutes to reduce the gap for Oratory.

SK Victoria Wanderers defeated Sannat Lions 2-0, courtesy of an Adolfo Sanz Ortiz brace on the 2nd and the 24th.

In another match, Victoria Hotspurs registered their first win, defeating St. Lawrence Spurs 5-2. Shaun Mizzi put St. Lawrence ahead on the 10th, Moussa Bamba equalised on the 22nd and Ferdinando Apap put them 2-1 ahead on 34 minutes before Jason Pace scored twice in two minutes between the 39th and 41st to increase the lead further. Mambaye Boye reduced the gap on 55 minutes but Moussa Bamba made it 5-2 on 72 minutes.

Meanwhile in the Melita Second Division, Munxar Falcons registered a third win in four matches, defeating Qala Saints thanks to a goal by Gary Hili.

On the other hand, Gharb Rangers returned to winning ways as they beat Xaghra United 2-0 thanks to penalties by Justin Azzopardi on 45 minutes and Frank Attard on 61 minutes.
