BOV Division 3: Santa Lucia, Kirkop maintain positive run

Santa Lucia and Kirkop United maintained their positive run in the BOV Third Division as they both registered wins on Sunday to stay in the top two places. Santa Lucia lead by three points but Kirkop have a game in hand.

Santa Lucia came from behind to beat Mtarfa 2-1. An own goal after just eight minutes put Mtarfa ahead. Andrew Sciortino levelled matters on 58 minutes with Marlon Farrugia securing victory for Santa Lucia seven minutes from time.

Kirkop United beat Qrendi 3-0 thanks to goals by Ayodeji Jotham Adeniran on the 51st, Vladimir Klikic on the 69th and Michael Zammit on the 82nd.

Mgarr United registered a 3-0 win over Marsaskala to move third. Mark Abela put them ahead on the 14th and two late goals by Gianluca Theuma and Colin Gatt in the final three minutes secured the issue.

Attard returned to victory, beating Kalkara 5-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Christian Abela on 2, 32 and 82 minutes and goals by Lydon Cilia on the 14th and Kurt Zahra on the 40th.

Mdina Knights and St. Venera Lightnings earned a point each in a 2-2 draw. Ben Camilleri put Mdina ahead on the 19th but Darren Farrugia scored twice on 26 and 65 minutes to turn the score in the favour of St. Venera. However Ian Scerri equalised on the 67th.

Marsaxlokk vs Ta’ Xbiex also ended in a 2-2 draw. Ryan D’Amato put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 12th minute. A penalty by Anderson Meyar de Melo ten minutes in the second half and a goal by Daniel Calleja Cremona seven minutes later turned the score in Ta’ Xbiex’s favour but Stephen Sammut rescued a point for Marsaxlokk twelve minutes from time.

Santa Lucia lead the way with 17 points, followed by Kirkop on 14, Mgarr 13, Marsaskala 12, Qrendi 10, Attard and Mtarfa 9, Marsaxlokk 8, Sta. Venera and Luqa 5, Mdina and Kalkara 4 and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
