St. Andrews are the new leaders of the BOV First Division as two late goals by Trayo Grozev and Emiliano Lattes gave them a 2-0 win over Gzira United. Second-placed Melita and third-placed Gudja United have however a game in hand. For Gzira, this was the third consecutive defeat.
Trayo Grozev broke the deadlock eleven minutes from time and Emiliano Lattes notched the winner three minutes in added time.
Meanwhile Pembroke Athleta joined Gudja United and Vittoriosa Stars in third place as they registered their fourth consecutive win, beating Mqabba 3-2.
Siraj Arab Eddin put Pembroke ahead six minutes from the end of the first half but ten minutes in the second half, Douglas da Silva Silveira levelled matters. Lucky Omeruo made it 2-1 for Pembroke on 68 minutes but ten minutes later, Silveira restored equilibrium. However six minutes from time, Ariel Laudisi notche the winner for Pembroke.
St. Andrews lead the way with 16 points, followed by Melita on 15, Gudja, Pembroke and Vittoriosa 14, St. Andrews 13, Lija and Mqabba 12, Gzira 10, Fgura, Zurrieq, St. George’s and Msida 9, Rabat 8 and Birzebbuga 1.
