FA Trophy: B’Kara hit seven past Hamrun — Floriana through on penalties

Liliu notched a hat-trick as Birkirkara defeated Second Division side Hamrun Spartans 7-1 to secure a place in the fourth round of the FA Trophy.

Floriana defeated Sliema Wanderers 5-4 on penalties while Qormi beat Third Division side Qrendi 3-0.

At the Centenary Stadium, Birkirkara registered a most comfortable 7-1 win over Hamrun Spartans. The Stripes will be facing Second Division side Siggiewi in the fourth round.

Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais put the Stripes ahead on the 4th minute, doubled the score on the 11th and added a third on the 21st.

Two minutes in the second half, Ryan Camenzuli made it 4-0 and on the 54th, Haruna Shola Shodiya scored the fifth. Birkirkara increased the lead further on 61 minutes thanks to Ryan Camenzuli and Paul Fenech made it 7-0 on the 79th minute. Hamrun scored a consolation goal on the 90th thanks to Ryan Spiteri.

Floriana defeated Sliema Wanderers 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw at the end of the ninety minutes and at the end of extra-time. The Wanderers played for over eighty minutes in ten men after John Mintoff was sent off on the 38th minute.

In the penalty shoot-out, Mark Scerri, Filippo Andrea Scozzese, Fabio Mangiacasale and Djumo Bocar scored for Sliema with Marko Potezica missing the target in the second penalty for the Blues. On the other hand, Douglas Felipe Moreira Cobo, Vito Plut, Emerson Marcelina, Clyde Borg and Matteo Piciollo scored the five penalties for Floriana.

Qormi defeated Third Division side Qrendi 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium to set up a fourth-round clash with Floriana.

Ryan Micallef put Qormi ahead on the 2nd minute and the former Rabat striker doubled the score four minutes later. Five minutes from the end of the first half, Alfred Effiong sealed the issue with a third goal.
