After Santa Lucia’s defeat to Attard on Saturday, it was the turn of BOV Third Division leaders Kirkop United to suffer the first defeat as they lost to Mdina Knights by the odd goal in five. Ironically for Mdina, this was the first win of the season.
Daniel Cluett put Mdina ahead on the 11th minute and Stephen Place doubled the score seven minutes from the end of the first half. Kirkop pulled one back eight minutes in the second half thanks to a penalty by Ayodeji Jotham Adeniran and three minutes later, Sinclair Camilleri equalised. However a goal by Dalton Caruana eight minutes from time handed Mdina the three points.
Mgarr United missed the chance to take sole leadership as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Mtarfa.
Ryan Vella put Mgarr ahead on 42 minutes but George Curmi equalised on the 93rd.
Kirkop and Mgarr lead the way with 20 points, followed by Santa Lucia 18, Attard and Mtarfa 16, Qrendi 15, Marsaskala and St. Venera 12, Mdina 9, Marsaxlokk and Kalkara 8, Luqa 5 and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
