Gudja United and Vittoriosa Stars join St. Andrews in second place in the BOV First Division, one point behind Pembroke Athleta after both registered identical wins on Saturday.
Gudja United returned to winning ways as they defeated Msida St. Joseph 2-1. For Msida, this was the third successive defeat.
Mauro Brincat converted a penalty on the 6th minute and on the 31st George Chircop doubled the score. Dino Cachia pulled one back on 43 minutes.
Vittoriosa Stars beat Mqabba 2-1 – a second successive win for Vittoriosa and a fourth defeat in six matches for Mqabba.
Sheldon Grech put the Stars ahead on the 9th and Anthony Eviparker doubled the score just before half-time. Mqabba pulled one back eleven minutes in the second half.
Pembroke lead the way with 23 points, followed by Gudja, Vittoriosa and St. Andrews on 22, Melita 19, Lija 18, St. George’s 17, Gzira 16, Fgura 15, Rabat and Mqabba 14, Zurrieq and Msida 10 and Birzebbuga 3.
