Leaders Kirkop United registered their eighth win in eleven matches in the BOV Third Division as they beat Santa Lucia 3-0 in one of six matches on Saturday. A win which enables them to maintain a three-point lead over Mgarr United. On the other hand, for Santa Lucia, this was the third successive defeat.

Sinclair Camilleri put Kirkop ahead on 14 minutes. Michael Zammit doubled the score six minutes in the second half, adding another two minutes in added time.

A penalty by Ryan Vella on 73 minutes enabled Mgarr United to defeat Sta. Venera Lightnings 1-0.

Attard registered a fourth consecutive win, defeating Ta’ Xbiex 5-0. Kurt Zahra opened the score when he converted a penalty on 29 minutes and Chris Abela doubled the score on the 40th. Eight minutes in the second half, Karl Hili made it 3-0 and seven minuets later, Lydon Cilia scored the fourth. Karl Hili sealed the issue with another goal on the 73rd.

Mdina Knights registered their second win, beating Marsaxlokk 4-0. Cachel Vella put Mdina ahead on the 40th and five mintues later, Vaughan Barnes doubled the score. Nine minutes from time, Daniel Cluett scored the third goal but it was not over yet as four minutes later, Ian Scerri made it 4-0.

Qrendi and Marsaskala shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Qrendi therefore join Mtarfa in fourth place. Joseph Jr Onouju put Marsaskala ahead after just two minutes but Davide Mula rescued a point for Qrendi on the 73rd.

Luqa St. Andrew’s came back from one goal down to beat Kalkara 5-1. Randy Ighalo put Kalkara ahead on 18 minutes but Lydon Sciberras equalised on the 39th. Three minutes later, Justin Cilia put Luqa ahead. Gordon Failla increased the lead on 57 minutes with Diansand Brincat adding another on the 64th. Glenn Azzopardi scored the fifth and final goal ten minutes from time.

Kirkop lead the way with 26 points, followed by Mgarr on 23, Attard 22, Mtarfa and Qrendi 19, Santa Lucia 18, Sta. Venera 15, Marsaskala 13, Mdina 12, Kalkara 11, Marsaxlokk and Luqa 8 and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
