Birkirkara and Qormi have reached an agreement over the transfer of Argentine defender Mauricio Matias Mazzetti Latini. As part of the deal, Spanish defender Alejandro Mendoza Corujo will be joining Qormi on loan till the end of the season.
Twenty-eight year old Mauricio Mazzetti had joined Qormi this summer. After playing for San Lorenzo de Cordoba, Talleres, Racing de Córdoba, Trinidad de San Juan and Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza in Argentina, he moved to Europe where he played for FC Emmen in the Netherlands. Later he played for Club Universitario in Bolivia, AEK Kouklia in Cyprus and Dohuk FC in the Iraqi Kurdistan.
Alejandro Mendoza Corujo ‘Moreno’ is a product of Tenerife and played for their second team before moving to UB Conquense and eventually AT Granadilla. He joined Birkirkara in summer 2012.
Birkirkara had earlier signed Dutch striker Nassir Maachi and Bosnian goalkeeper Mirza Hamzabegovic. Qormi, on the other hand, signed Clifford Gauci, Chrisopher Edafe Uzeh, Billy Berntsson and Marcelo Roberto Lima de Mattos ‘Marcelinho’.
