Balzan FC announced that Juan Carlos Corbolan has signed up for Italian Serie B side Virtus Lanciano.
Following a visit to Balzan’s training grounds by Lanciano in late 2014 and after observing several of our young players, Juan was invited for a week’s trial to Lanciano in December. Corbalan’s move is the beginning of a long-term relationship between the two clubs that will see the two clubs co-operating on a number of levels.
Balzan FC Honorary President, Anton Tagliaferro said: ” We are all delighted that Juan has been given the chance to prove himself in the Primavera of Lanciano in the next six months. Lanciano is an ambitious club and we wish Juan all the best there. Juan is a very promising and dedicated player and hopefully this move will result in Juan following a professional career in football – something that has always been Juan’s dream. These are the sort of opportunities that we will be organising for all of our ambitious players in future. I would like to personally thank Oliver Spiteri for fostering this valuable relationship with Lanciano – a relationship that more boys from our Academy will benefit from in future years.”
Balzan FC Academy Director Timmy Gambin said “Juan’s move to a professional Italian team is a clear sign that the fantastic work being done at the Balzan Academy by Ludvic Bartolo and all our coaches is beginning to bear fruit. We are sure that the Lanciano relationship, as well as other connections we have with the likes of the Milan Soccer School and Prato FC, will benefit many more boys from our Academy in coming years.”
“We have lots of other opportunities coming up for our boys – in summer Balzan’s Under 17 squad will be visiting Prato FC as part of an ERASMUS youth exchange program and we are also currently organising participation in tournaments and trials overseas for other players later in 2015,” added Anton Tagliaferro.
