FIFA Referees Adrian Azzopardi and Clayton Pisani are currently attending two important UEFA winter courses in Athens.
Adrian Azzopardi is participating in the 24th UEFA Introductory Course for international referees.
The twenty-nine male and twenty-three female newly-appointed European referees are receiving various administrative and technical instructions from UEFA Referee Committee members.
The participants are also being introduced to specific training sessions, exercises relevant to their positioning and movement during a match, and management of the game/players.
Medical assessments, physical tests and a test in the English language are also part of the 5 day intensive programme which comes to a close on Friday.
Clayton Pisani’s participation in the 23rd UEFA Advanced Course for international referees is of a three-day duration and follows his recent promotion to UEFA’s Category 1.
This course serves as a review of the first part of the season, and prepares the best 62 male and 18 referees in Europe for the second half of the season commencing later this month.
Various technical information and practical sessions form part of the agenda, while all participants are expected to pass the fitness tests prior to being eligible to be appointed for UEFA matches.
