Hamrun Spartans were in fine form as they beat neighbours Marsa 6-0 in the derby to stay two points behind leaders San Gwann.
Rodney Refalo put Hamrun ahead on the 7th minute, Saturday Nanapere doubled the score on the 31st and six minutes later, Ryan Spiteri made it 3-0. Jake Grech added another on the 66th and Nanapere increased the lead three minutes later before Ryan Bonello sealed the issue with a sixth goal three minutes from time.
Leaders San Gwann beat Swieqi United 2-0 thanks to goals by Isaac Zammit on the 71st and Nezar Abouhaisa on the 86th.
Sirens registered the largest win of the day as they beat wooden-spoonists Xghajra Tornados 8-0. The St. Paul’s Bay side were leading 3-0 at half-time thanks to Daniel Cremona on the 3rd, Justin Zammit on the 21st and Lee Joe Schembri on the 32nd. Two minutes in the second half, Ricardo Severino scored the fourth goal and eleven minutes later, Ryan Sciberras made it 5-0. Ryan Theuma and Daniel Cremona scored two between the 78th and 79th with Ricardo Severino scoring the eighth on the 90th.
Senglea Athletic defeated Gharghur 1-0 thanks to a goal by Peter Anizoba seven minutes in the second half while Zejtun Corinthians beat Siggiewi 2-0 courtesy of Kenneth Abela on the 20th and Jamie Mifsud on the 86th.
In another match, Mellieha and Ghaxaq shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Ryan Cutajar putting Mellieha ahead on the 3rd and Dean Agius equalising on the 17th.
San Gwann lead the way with 42 points, followed by Hamrun on 40, Senglea 35, Zejtun 34, Zabbar 30, Gharghur 29, Siggiewi 27, Mellieha 25, Swieqi 23, Sirens 22, Marsa 20, Dingli 13, Ghaxaq 9 and Xghajra 5.
