Vittoriosa Stars scored two late goals to turn defeat into victory as they beat Msida St. Joseph in a match from the BOV First Division on Saturday.
Michael Camilleri put the Stars ahead on the 4th minute but a brace by Helder Souza on the 5th and 45th turned the score in favour of Msida. However substitutes Henrique Eder Guedes and Gianluca Calabretta hit twice on the 85th and 87th respectively to hand Arturo di Napoli’s side a second consecutive win.
In another match, Gzira United moved back in second place thanks to a 3-1 win over Melita.
Eduoard Ndjodo put Gzira ahead two minutes from the end of the first half. Jeremiah Ani doubled the score on the 74th but Luke Mifsud pulled one back for the Amateurs three minutes from time. However John Nwoba made it 3-1 for the Maroons a minute later.
St. Andrews lead the way with 36 points, followed by Gzira on 35, Pembroke 33, Fgura and Melita 32, Gudja 30, Vittoriosa 29, St. George’s 28, Lija 25, Mqabba 22, Rabat 21, Zurrieq 17, Msida 14 Birzebbuga 9
