Pembroke Athleta joined St Andrews on top the BOV First Division table as they came back from one goal down to beat bottom-placed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 4-1.
Edson Luiz Bonati put the Saints ahead on the 20th but Ayrton Azzopardi equalised on the 32nd. Pembroke forged ahead on the 71st through Abubakar Bello-Osagie who also scored the third goal three minutes later. An own goal sealed the issue for Pembroke four minutes from time.
The direct clash between the two teams lying in joint-third place, Gzira United and Fgura United ended in a 1-1 draw. Mendy Abdul Razak put Fgura ahead on the 9th minute but Jamie Pace restored equilibrium eleven minutes from time.
Vittoriosa Stars registered a most dramatic 2-1 win over Zurrieq. Joseph JoJo Ogunuppe put Zurrieq ahead on the 19th but substitute Felipe Canavan equalised on the 80th. Vittoriosa had a player sent off but four minutes from time, another substitute, Gianluca Sultana, notched the winner.
Lija Athletic returned to winning ways as they beat Msida St. Joseph 3-1. Erjon Beu put Lija ahead thanks to a penalty on the 17th. Stacey Vella equalised on the 29th but Cleavon Frendo restored the lead for Brian Spiteri’s side on the 70th. Dylan Mintoff made it 3-1 on the 90th.
Pembroke and St. Andrews lead the way with 39 points, followed by Gzira and Fgura on 36, Melita 35, Vittoriosa 32, Gudja 31, St. George’s 30, Lija 28, Mqabba 25, Rabat 22, Zurrieq 17, Msida 14 and Birzebbuga 9.
