St. Andrews regained sole leadership in the BOV First Division as they defeated Gzira United 2-1 with Pembroke Athleta being held in a draw by Mqabba.
Michael Johnson put Brian Said’s team ahead on the 12th minute but Gzira equalised in added time thanks to Jeremiah Ani. However five minutes from time, Kyrian Nwoko handed Luxol the three points.
Mqabba rescued a point in the clash with Pembroke Athleta, holding them in a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal by Claudio Calleja four minutes in added time. Abubakar Bello-Osagie had put Pembroke ahead on 66 minutes.
Fgura United are now alone in third place thanks to a 2-1 win over Rabat Ajax to extend their unbeaten run to fifteen matches. Iro Curmi gave Fgura the lead on the 17th but eight minutes in the second half, Aidan Azzopardi equalised. However seven minutes from time, Ryan Previ notched the winner for Fgura.
Gudja United defeated Melita 2-1. Peter Paul Sammut put Gudja ahead on 22 minutes. Melita equalised four minutes from half-time thanks to Kurt Coleiro but Joselito dos Reis Santos notched the winner four minutes from time.
St. Andrews lead the way with 42 points, followed by Pembroke on 40, Fgura 39, Gzira 36, Vittoriosa and Melita 35, Gudja 34, St. George’s 31, Lija 28, Mqabba 26, Rabat 22, Zurrieq 18, Msida 14 and Birzebbuga 12.
