BOV Division 3: Kirkop hit nine past Marsaxlokk

Kirkop United registered a most comfortable 9-0 win over Marsaxlokk in one of the six BOV Third Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Brian Falzon put Kirkop ahead on the 8th minute and four minutes later, Dylan Rapinett doubled the score. Michael Zammit made it 3-0 on the 17th and three minutes later, Matthew Caruana scored the fourth goal. The fifth goal arrived on the 28th thanks to Michael Zammit. Two minutes in the second half, Matthew Caruana increased the lead and Michael Theuma converted a penalty on the 58th to make it 7-0. Michael Zammit scored the eighth goal on the 67th and five minutes later, Andre Cutajar sealed the issue with the ninth.

Leaders Mgarr United came from behind to beat bottom-placed Ta’ Xbiex 3-1. Alistair Bezzina put Ta’ Xbiex ahead on the hour. Joseph Paul Zammit equalised ten minutes later and Ryan Vella made it 2-1 on the 75th. Four minutes later, Zammit added another to seal the issue for Mgarr.

Qrendi defeated Kalkara 4-0 to stay in second place. Antoine Sacco opened the score on the 27th. Clayton Caruana doubled the score on the 39th and Dennis di Maio converted a penalty on the 78th before adding another goal two minutes in added time.

A brace by Cachel Vella on the 76th and 95th enabled Mdina Knights to beat nine-man Attard 2-0.

A goal by Mark Grech on the 17th minute enabled St. Venera Lightnings to beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 1-0.

Marsaskala defeated Mtarfa 5-1. Karl Sammut put Mtarfa ahead on the 8th but Denis Sytnik equalised on the 26th. Miguel Farrugia Spiteri made it 2-1 five minutes in the second half and Claudio Pace scored the third on the 65th. Justin Zammit added another four minutes later before Denis Sytnik converted a penalty five minutes from time.

Mgarr lead the way with 42 points, followed by Qrendi on 38, Kirkop 37, Santa Lucia 36, Attard 32, Mtarfa and Marsaskala 30, Sta. Venera 26, Kalkara 24, Mdina 21, Luqa 14, Marsaxlokk 13 and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
