Xewkija Tigers and Nadur Youngsters claimed maximum points this weekend in the Melita First Division in Gozo as they defeated Kercem Ajax 2-1 and Victoria Hotspurs 4-0 respectively.
Kercem had taken the lead in the clash with Xewkija with a goal by Mario Mifsud on the 31st. Dene Shields equalised five minutes later. Ten minutes from time, John Camilleri notched the winner for the Tigers.
Claudio Antunes grabbed a hat-trick in Nadur’s win over the Hotspurs. He put the Youngsters ahead on teh 9th minute and converted a penalty on the 21st to double the score. Mark Hyzler made it 3-0 on the 33rd with Antunes adding another on 63 minutes.
In the Relegation Pool, Sannat Lions held Oratory Youths in a goalless draw.
In another match, SK Victoria Wanderers claimed three important points in a 2-0 win over St. Lawrence Spurs. Sunday Baala put the Wanderers ahead on the 15th with Oliver Farrugia securing victory with another goal on the 90th.
Meanwhile in the Melita Second Division, Xaghra United maintained the pressure on second-placed Munxar Falcons as they defeated them 1-0 thanks to a goal by Aleandro Bezzina.
Qala Saints, on the other hand, defeated Zebbug Rovers 1-0, courtesy of an own goal.
