The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio announced that the EURO 2016 qualifier between Italy and Malta in programme on Thursday 3rd September will be played at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Firenze.
This will be the fourth clash at senior level between Italy and Malta on Italian soil. In January 1987, Italy hosted Malta at the Stadio Comunale in Bergamo, winning 5-1. In March 1993, Italy defeated Malta 6-1 at the Stadio La Favorita in Palermo while in September 2012, Italy hosted Malta at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena, winning 2-0.
Meanwhile Malta will be hosting Lithuania in a friendly match on June 8, four days before the EURO qualifier against Bulgaria at the National Stadium.
Lithuania are currently fourth in Group E after beating San Marino 2-0 and Estonia 1-0 and losing 0-2 to Slovenia, 4-0 to Switzerland and 4-0 to England.
