Report links two former Italian internationals with Birkirkara

A few hours after Giovanni Tedesco signed a two-year deal with Birkirkara FC as their new coach, a report in Italy links former Italy internationals Fabrizio Miccoli and Mauro German Camoranesi together with Davide Moscardelli with the Stripes.

Goal.com reports that the Stripes are on the verge of concluding the transfer of Fabrizio Miccoli and are close to signing Camoranesi and Moscardelli.

Miccoli was present at the National Stadium for the FA Trophy final won against Hibernians last week.

Thirty-five year old Fabrizio Miccoli was on the books of Milan when he was still a thirteen year old but eventually moved to Casarano where he had his first experience of senior football. He then moved to Ternana in the Serie B where he spent four years. In 2002, he was transferred to Juventus but was loaned to Perugia in order to gain more experience. Back with the Bianconeri, he scored eight goals in 25 matches. In summer 2004, he joined Fiorentina in joint-ownership with Juventus. He scored twelve in thirty-five matches for the Viola.

The following summer, Juventus bought Fiorentina’s share but Miccoli was sent on loan to Benfica where he spent two years. He returned to Italy in 2007 to join Palermo where he spent six years, eventually becoming club captain. In summer 2013, Miccoli moved to his home-town Lecce to play in the Lega Pro.

Mauro German Camoranesi started his career with Aldosivi in Argentina before moving to Mexico to play for Santos Laguna and later to Uruguay to play for Montevideo Wanderers. He returned to Argentina to play for Banfield and then spent two years in Mexico with Cruz Azul. In summer 2000, he joined Verona in Italy where he spent two years before being transferred to Juventus. With the Bianconeri, Camoranesi spent eight years. He spent one season in Germany with VfB Stuttgart before returning to Argentina to play for Lanus first and Racing Club later. Last year, Camoranesi, who is now thirty eight years old, was the coach of Mexican side Coras de Tepic.

Thirty-five year old Davide Moscardelli played for Maccarese, Guidonia, Sangiovannese, Triestina, Rimini, Cesena and Piacenza in the lower divisions before making his Serie A debut with Chievo in 2010/11. In January 2013, he was transferred to Bologna where he spent eighteen months. Last summer, he joined Lecce in the Lega Pro. Throughout his career, he scored over a hundred and fifty goals, including twelve in the Serie A.
