Birkirkara present new signings

Birkirkara presented their new signings during an event for supporters which was held at the Infetti Training Centre on Thursday. The main highlight was former Juventus, Perugia, Fiorentina, Benfica, Palermo and Lecce striker Fabrizio Miccoli who arrived in Malta on Thursday morning to sign a one-year deal with the Stripes.

Apart from Miccoli, new faces in the Birkirkara squad include attacking midfielder Adama Traoré, winger Edin Murga, Slovenian striker Vito Plut and Walker Taianan.

Twenty-six year old Malian Adama Traoré was on the books of PSG but also played for SR Saint-Dié and Calais RUFC. Tewnty-year old Edin Murga was born in Italy and holds a dual Bosnian passport played for Vendsyssel FF in Denmark this season after spells with the youth teams of Zeljeznicar and FK Sarajevo in Bosnia and AEK in Greece. Slovenian striker Vito Plut, on the other hand, joins the club after a successful spell with Floriana.

The other foreigners on the books of Birkirkara are Nikola Vukanac, Mauricio Matias Latini Mazzetti, Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais, Rafael Pompeo Ledesma and Haruna Shola Shodiya.

Andrew Scicluna and Terence Vella are back with the club after spending last year on loan with Naxxar while Daniel Zerafa returns with the Stripes after a one-year loan spell with St. George’s.

The other players in the Birkirkara squad ahead of their UEFA Europa League first qualifying round ties with Ulisses FC of Armenia are Justin Haber, Ini Etim Akpan, Edward Herrera, Joseph Zerafa, Edmond Agius, Ryan Camenzuli, Ryan Scicluna, Zach Muscat, Rowen Muscat, Kurt Zammit, Gareth Sciberras and Paul Fenech.

The squad led by coach Giovanni Tedesco and his assistant Josef Mansueto has just returned from an eight-day training camp in Roccaporena, Italy.
