Balzan, Tarxien share spoils in goalless draw

Balzan and Tarxien Rainbows extended their unbeaten run to three matches as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A draw which puts the two teams in joint-fifth place on five points, four points behind the leaders.

Balzan had an edge over their opponents, creating the better chances but Tarxien goalkeeper Andrea Cassar played an excellent game, keeping them at bay.

The first half lacked goal-mouth action with the only attempts at goal being a Justin Grioli effort blocked by Cassar and a freekick by Zarate ending just wide.

Eight minutes from time, Andrea Cassar was superb in turning into a corner a fine Ryan Darmanin header. Five minutes later, Cassar turned into another corner a Godwin Mensha header. In added time, substitute Maxim Focsa also tested Cassar with the Tarxien custodian turning the ball into another corner.
